Looking for employment in Bangkok! Please help! 1 Year, 6 Months ago Karma: 2
Hello everyone,

I've been here in Bangkok for quite some time now and I'm struggling to land a job related to my college degree. I noticed that teaching is a dominant profession to most Filipinos here but this however is my problem as my degrees are: Electronics Engineering Technology and Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting. I have an overall work experience of more than 4 years (all rendered in RP)and my exposure is in the field of Human Resources, Payroll, Customer Service, Training and IT. Before I left the country last March 2010, I held a post of Payroll Technical Support Architect in a Software/ICT company in Makati.

I have been sending out my resume here and there but nothing much happens. Could you recommend or suggest any job opportunity? I would be very much willing to teach, but do I need to be a B.S. Education graduate?

Any advice that you could give will be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Hannah

What i suggest, and which most people have done in the past, is to get into a teaching job first. While working as a teacher, you can continue looking for opportunities to get a job in your field/s of expertise. If you try teaching jobs in Kindergarten/ Early years group, they're not that strict when it comes to qualifications.

Good luck! And do update us on what's happening with you.

Also, try you luck with the English publications in Bangkok, the Bangkok Post and The Nation, being the top two. As far as I know, there are Filipinos working in these places, so that might be a good place to explore, too.

Just a thought. Do you have some sample articles appropriate for Siam Pinoy that we can publish? It might be a good way to showcase your talent. You can add it to your resume that you are contributing to the site.

And another thing, do visit http://www.filipinosinthailand.com blog and check out the job listing category. Good luck!

Looks like a good combination of course of studies and experience. But I'm wondering why you want to teach when you could be in industry?

Keep your post afloat dito sa SP, someone might be passing by and see your resume details.

Also post in Thai Visa forum to get your resume to a wider audience and also to find job postings.

Also, this is Thailand. If you are sending applications to local companies in English and by email, staff might be automatically deleting them b/c they may not be able to read English. Try walking in sa mga office that advertise job openings. They want to see if you're presentable, have good hygiene, speak well and generally trustworthy to work with their payroll.

Frankly I think very few local companies will entrust office staff work to foreigners, especially Fils. Hindi lahat ng taga-rito ay open sa atin, you are taking jobs away kasi from the locals.

So, another alternative is teaching in English Language schools. Show up at the center, don't just farm out your resume. If you have budget to spare, take an IELTS test to determine English level, at gamitin ito bilang isa pang proof that you can speak the language well. Although I must caution you na many of these language centers now require all applicants na may TEFL or some other English teaching course.

Good luck!

Hi everyone,

I'm also another one who look for a job but not for myself. I've read a lot of the forums specially the jobs for filipino articles. My boyfriend came here last 3 months and we tried to look for a job for him but unfortunately, he got nothing. I would like to have some suggestion from all of you here regarding any vacancies for filipino in Bangkok. My boyfriend has an experience in Administrative,Secretarial and Procurement in The Philippines,Saudi Arabia and State of Qatar. Right now he needs to go back to Philippines since his visa had expired but I still help him to look for a job. If anyone could help us please contact me via my email at panee.sukon7622@gmail.com

Looking forward to hear from all of you
