Help! Filipino Job Seeker in Thailand 1 Year, 7 Months ago Karma: 3
Dear Mga Kabayan,

I have been in Thailand for 1 and a half month now and I have not landed a job at present. I noticed that jobs for OFW's in Thailand are mostly teaching jobs. Well, there is where I fell short. I am a experience OFW for 6 years now previously worked in Doha Qatar at the Pearl Qatar as a Senior Admin Officer for a well known Thai Arab Construction Company. At the moment I am currently residing in Hua Hin province and my visa will be expire by July 19, 2010.

My other job experience was a Executive Secretary in Carrefour Saudi Arabia for 2 and a half year and prior to the said job I was a Logistics Supervisor in SM Supermarket for 2 years. I am also proficient in English and can teach the language with a syllabus.

Your suggests and recommendations for any job will be much appreciated.

Best regards,

Howell R. Abanes

Hi Emanon. Welcome to Siam Pinoy Community!

You are armed with good qualifications as you got your job experiences in other countries. The job opportunities here in Thailand are not only teaching jobs, there are also jobs for engineers, IT personnel, web designers and other professions. With your job experiences, I strongly believe it is not advisable for you to compete with those who got the teaching experiences already. Stick with your line of work, your forte.

I think you just have to find the right companies to which you can submit your application, keep your CV "flying"...and try to be at SPC website regularly, make it a part of your daily routine.

Good luck!

Thank you all for boosting my morale. In times like this, I always tell myself I am a Filipino the most talented and most flexible people in the planet. Filipinos never stop growing cause we are adaptive we can do all kinds and types of job. We are all heart, all action and we conquer all.

Madam H, I thank you again, appreciate willingness to help those who are in need. I always hope for tomorrow because if I fail today, I still have tomorrow to try and fight another day.

When I am down, I look down to not pity myself. But one way or another I will still look up to take a glimpse and run towards my goal. Doing nothing keeps us in a stagnant move. Doing a little bit of something give us the edge in hope look forward in something we know we can do.

Salamat sa mga mensahe mga kababayan ko...

If you have the resources, change your visa to student and study CELTA or other English teaching certification.

The English teachers in the forum should be able to weigh in on this.
