This is a translation of a letter sent to schools on August 5th from the MoE. It states that schools don't need to jump through the TCT hoops anymore to employ their teachers legally.

Re: Teacher License for Foreign Teachers
To: Licensed Private Schools

Reference is made to the government’s approval for foreign teaches to work
in Thailand. The teachers who do not pass the government’s assessments and
requirements after the first two years, they are to pass the requirements of the
governments. Thai government announce as per following:

1/ Education Council allow foreign teachers who do not meet the
qualifications to continue teaching and allow the schools to
continue their employments.(consideration to be made on the
case by case basis)

2/ After the first two years of license approval from the Council, schools
are able to continue hiring their foreign teachers legally. The schools
must submit their statements stating their needs and their necessities to
employ their teachers. The Council will consider as per schools’ requests..

This is to announce for all concern.

Respectfully yours,

Mr. Bundit Sripuntangkoon
Director

Well, this makes sense. It's a relief to schools, like my school, that have foreingers with no teaching degrees yet they are being valued because ther're very good teachers.

Hi! It's exciting to know that (Filipinos)non-education degree holders are qualified to teach in Thailand. I for one is not an Education degree holder but i have a vast experience in teaching specially in high school and in college here in the Philippines which i think is an advantage if i will try my luck in the field of teaching there in Thailand. I just hope, i will be given a chance..

Why not! It only takes determination to find one.

Try it.

I know some people who are retired (or who are in their retirement age) who came here and have found jobs. I saw that some of your questions have been answered before by some of our forumers, and they are very useful info before you come here.

Like Softrock said, you can always try. But when you do, do not leaver yourself with nowhere to run if it does not work the first time. Make sure that if you do decide to come, you are well prepared with some money to last you a few months. Hiring time for teachers in Thai schools usually starts in March until May. Classes starts late May usually.

I suggest you re-open that thread you started earlier, in the Work Discussions, and ask more of our forumers about their thoughts on specific things. Good luck!
