I do not understand why the banks strictly requires a WP in opening a savings account. Hindi naman umuutang, mag iiwan pa nga ng pera sa kanila. Besides when a person has chosen the bank to have his/her savings account it means he/she trusts the bank. Kumikita pa nga sila because the depositor has to pay for the ATM card.

I'm not sure guess they are in support to the government encouraging foreigners to work legally, it doesn't seem right when one earns an illegitimate income from Thailand and deposit the cash to their respective banks without taking responsibilites for duties/taxes.

Hi there I have the same problem. BDO said that I should find a bank in Thailand that ties up with their bank.. I just don't know if we have here. Before we are using WU but it's so expensive.. Later we opened an account with Bangkok bank which gives a higher rate .. just deposit the amount in ur account then send ur ATM in the Philippines. It will be of help. As u can tell them how much they will withdraw and never have an Inquiry as it's not allowed. Per transaction they will charge at least 100 baht..
I use Bangkok Bank to send my remittance tru electronic wire transfer. I am using it since 2003, until now wala pa namng hassle.

Just an update:
I decided not to buy dollars for peso exchange in coming back home as I found out that I get more cash if I can have my BAHT to PESO. I was surprised myself, I even tried calculating POUNDS to PESO and EURO to PESO but still BAHT to PESO is more lucrative. Perhaps due to the strong baht these times and as we know USD value is getting low.
On the other hand, I tried using my Kasikorn ATM card in a machine here in Cebu (Ayala) which has PLUS logo and was able to get some cash yesterday. It also reported that they charged 150pesos for the withdrawal. 150pesos plus a hundred baht charges, sum it up, that make all the expense of using a ( Thailand) DEBIT card here in the Philippines. As per experience, Kasikorn Bank. FYI.
Finally, this confirms that KSKRN is also one bank that can help on money transfer in addition to the banks mentioned earlier in this thread.

Before when I checked the selling at BPI mas mataas kesa BDO. Pero I checked ngayon mukhang hindi na sila nagpapalit ng Baht to peso.

i agree with the others who use bangkok bank atm card.
get twin (two) atm cards of the same account with the 200 baht renewal fee each card every year. check the atm card with the sign PLUS, ATM POOL, VISA or BE 1ST.
send one card at home. call by phone and tell the password or send it by sms or ym or airmail to your family after confirmation of receiving it.
you can always check the balance in your other atm card. remember: every withdrawal of any amount at home in the philippines is charged 100 baht or 130 pesos as eservice fee.

Hi eugene, I just went to Ayala center in Cebu they have booths there. At first I went sa basement 1.30 lang ang exchange rate later I found out that there's another booth named EXCHANGE sa terraces, 1 is to 1.35 exchange nila. A lot better nga. Nag withdraw din ako ng money using my Kasikorn ATM, bale ang bank doon charges P150 per transaction.fyi.

Hi Mindy, I didn't bother going to any banks for exchange, meron naman maraming legal na currency exchange centers (booths) there in Cebu. As far as I can remember P43 lang ang 1USD doon mababa na masyado. Hope this info helps.
