HOW TO REMIT MONEY TO THE PHILIPIINES? 2 Years ago Karma: 1
Hello Everyone,

Am new here in this online community. I am a fresh graduate and now working in a company based in Thailand. Just want to ask if how can I remit money to the Philippines?

I do have ATM cards in BPI, BDO and RCBC. Where can I remit? What would be the easiest and the cheapest way to remit money. My current city is CHACHOENGSAO, 1 hour away from BKK.

Hope someone can help me in this matter.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi have you tried Western Union?

Others that I know got Visa Electron from their respective branch and send it back home. I have a BB Visa and in my experience I get to withdraw money in any ATM banks serving visa electron or plus in the Philippines. Hope this helps. Rates of course apply.

Hi. I have learned Moneygram is cheaper than Western Union. You can avail of it at selected banks like Siam Commercial Bank then you can check in your hometown in the Philippines which banks offer Moneygram services.

Otherwise, like what I had done, open an international savings account in a bank here then you can send the ATM in the Philippines. Maximum withdrawal per transaction is 10,000 pesos and the service charge per transaction is 100 baht.

Welcome po Mr. Nice Guy.

Western Union branches are everywhere, if you cannot find one in Chachongsao go to Bank of Ayuthaya, they normally have the service there.

Like you said, for the 1st option - the safest is to go to Thai Banks - Some do not have foreign remittance service - better to the the main branch of that bank. Bangkok Bank is the best bet on this. Prepare your passport copy to hand over to them and the original of course.

All the best

Thanks for the Information Krub. I'm now checking MoneyGram Service. Indeed, it is cheaper than the Western Union but I hope the FX will be as good or even higher.

Thanks a lot krub.

I just check the information in the net. I will post if I alredy experience remitting.hehehehe

Anyhow, what if I dont have my passport because the company holds it for my extension of visa application. Can I show the xerox copy of it in Siam Commercial Bank with my company ID?

Thanks a lot krub.

Some banks allowed it and others don't. Like when I opened my ATM account at Minburi it's fine but when a friend of mine went to the same bank, near her area, she was not allowed to open an account. This means it depends on the branch and the personnel's discretion.

But don't worry because you have company ID to show them aside from photocopy of your passport that will still be valid, just explain that you need to extend your visa so the company is holiding your passport to process.

Goodluck!

I have not experienced sending through MoneyGram but had received money from the said agency and it was fast. I had checked it also on the website and they have many branches worldwide. Like other agency, they only request for the passport. Passport is more than enough to prove the authenticity of our identification.

Like what Elektra had said it depends on the discretion of the personnel you deal with. Anyway they will also keep a photocopy of your passport. One time I made a deposit to my bank account but I did not have with me the ATM card and bank book, the teller asked for my passport and I gave only the photocopy of my passport.
