They are IT specialists, a software engineer, an entrepreneur and publisher, and a humanitarian and organizer – together, they are part of the SPAS (Siam Pinoy Aperture Society). Busy with their respective careers, yet finding it hard to put their cameras down to rest, they find an avenue to express their art and desire to help others in a photo exhibit at the Centara Grand.
See how this wonderful group of artists view culture in Thailand. Visit the Centara Grand on the 23rd floor to view “Thai and Culture through our Lens”. Part of the proceeds from the photos sold will go to charity.
“This is a great opportunity for our Filipino artists to showcase their inner talents”, states Vice Consul Randy Arquiza of the Philippine Embassy on the occasion of the exhibit’s opening night last September 16, 2011.
“Amazing, artistic photographers. Creativity is there. Beautiful”, says Lilibeth Rebustillo, who is also a Philippine Embassy officer.
Present also at the opening of the exhibit is the Vice President for Operations of Centara Hotels & Resorts, Michel Horn.
The Artists
Mel Cabillada
"I love life and people and places and a good laugh. Finding my vision and voice from the people I meet and experience." - Mel
Melanio Cabillada, “Mel”, is a software developer from the city of Cebu in the Philippines. His mind is mostly occupied by designs, programs and tests in his professional life. To balance it with, he pursues a passion for street photography in his free time.
He calls himself an amateur, but his photos tell a story all their own. He has a knack for transforming the mundane into images of interest that incites imagination. To him, the past 10 years of life in Thailand have been one great "street adventure", and he looks forward to more of the same in the future. Mel’s photos were part of the EXL (Expats and Living) magazine’s first issue).

Lorna Benos Coral
“It was a real struggle the first time but because of inspirations, I slowly enter the world of photography.” - Lorna
A teacher, a singer, a humanitarian, an organizer – these are but a few of the hats Lorna Coral wears with ease and pride. But for the past 9 years, it’s been the call to explore images, taking chances with every click of her camera and participating in photo exhibits and workshops that have occupied most of her time.
Lorna likes to present images of nature – be it a flower, a beautiful landscape or the like. She’s been in Thailand the past 4 years, and feels ready to take on the next challenge her passion for photography brings. But for now, she is content to be part of a photo exhibit for a cause.

Danilo Nuestro
"Highlighting humanity though art and storytelling." - D N
An engineer by profession but loves the abstract in art - that's how Danilo Nuestro would describe himself. For the past 5 years, he has pursued the mastery of photography as an engineer would, which proved a costly mistake. Throwing away the rulebook, now he uses photography as an observer to show life's stories and its beauty. He’s on his sixth year as a photographer. "Dani", to most friends, works as a software engineer in Thailand. He is especially talented in capturing captivating scenes during his travels. Some of those images were published in the second issue of EXL (Expats and Living) magazine in Thailand.
He lives with his wife and a year old son in Bangkok. You can view more of Dani’s work at www.danilon.com or you can email him at
