The reception for the 113th Philippine Independence held at the Four Seasons Hotel and hosted by her Excellency, Philippine Ambassador Linglingay Lacanlale and Dr. Agerico Lacanlale was a delightful evening of songs, popular Filipino dishes and short yet meaningful time with dignitaries from both the local Thai and expat institutions.
There were many to mention, but a few personalities who made it to the evening’s affair last June 9th were Ambassador Kristie Kenney of the United States of America, Bro. Prathip M. Komolmas F.S.G., more popularly known to many as Bro. Martin, the Rector Emeritus of Assumption University and Professor Ninnat of the SEAMEO.
Present also were the leaders of the various organizations and groups of the Filipino Community in Thailand, Filipino entrepreneurs based in Thailand, as well as executive officers of various companies.
The Knights of Rizal, the first ever chapter in Asia outside the Philippines, which started with 4 knights on April 10, 2010, was also there. The group is made up of a mix of nationalities, but many are prominent Thais. Their presence gave the event more meaning, since in the struggle for Philippine Independence, Dr. Jose Rizal’s works and sacrifices come to the fore.
